If you are constantly following or reading any blog related to travel frequently, then you would obviously believe that tasting different type of foods at different countries is one of the best experiences of traveling. However, it is also very vital to know about the food while you are outside as some of the foods could make you to just stay in room with health issue with disturbance in digestive system, for the days on end. Though there are now particularly precautions to be aware of health problems caused by few foods, there are certain foods to be avoided while traveling that can keep you away from issues. There could be no worse situation than spending time, money and energy, to start the trip but have spoiled with health issues. So, here are few foods you should be careful of eating when you are traveling.
Though ice cream is very hard to say no, it is best to avoid while travelling. When any food is frozen, or melted a little bit, and then refrozen just as in the cases of most of the frozen foods available in the world, it is more likely to cause very harmful bacteria in human being. This even includes ice cube that you might consider adding to your drink or water. So mainly take care of this in countries where filtered water not widely available.
Unpasteurized dairy products
As the food regulations change from country to country, it is best to just stay far of unpasteurized dairy products as they can contain diseases like listeria, salmonella and few other diseases that can be life-threatening.
If you have never tasted anything in the crustacean group like carbs, lobster and shrimp, obviously it wouldn’t be a good idea to be adventurous on your vacation. It would be the worst time to try out your shellfish allergies while traveling in an unfamiliar place. Also as shellfish are considered as the bottom feeders, they could carry far more bacteria than any other seafood. So if you still like to try it, then, at the very least make sure that it is been cleanly and thoroughly cooked.
Berries or any other fruits that thin skinned are better to avoid totally when traveling. It is always best to consume only the fruits that have thick out layered but can be peeled off easily, such as rambutans, oranges and bananas. That natural covering on the fruits keeps them fresh when we wash outside of the fruits before removing it’s outer layer. On the other hand, apples, strawberries and berries, have to be closed as they can be subjected to more bacteria while they get washed by the water.
Salad leaves such as spinach, iceberg or cos, are best avoided, as these leaves that have to be washed by water can cause belly problems. So, go for vegetables that have a protective skin or that have been cooked well.
